Investigations

At ISIS Clinic in Cyprus, we understand that everyone has a different fertility journey which is why we offer a range of fertility investigations. Whether you are having concerns about your fertility health, having trouble conceiving or planning to have a baby in the future, below are the various tests we offer.

An ovarian reserve (OR) test is one of the most used tests to help understand female fertility.
The most accurate markers of ovarian reserve are:

• Hormone profile test on day 2 -4 of your cycle and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) blood test (at any point in the cycle).
• Antral follicle count (transvaginal scan at any point of the cycle). This scan can show the number of follicles on each ovary. These follicles are small fluid filled sacs which each have the potential to release an egg.

The results from these scan and blood tests help your doctor to understand your level of fertility prior to treatment.

A semen analysis is one of the first investigations we recommend for those who are considering fertility treatment. By analysing a semen sample in our laboratory, our embryologist can determine the quantity and quality of the sperm. Factors taken into consideration when analysing a sample include number, motility and morphology of the sperm. These aspects all contribute to how effectively the sperm will be able to fertilise an egg.

In the majority of cases when a fertility treatment cycle fails or when someone suffers a miscarriage, the cause is embryo related. However, should couples fail to achieve success repeatedly with good quality embryos (recurrent implantation failure - RIF) or suffer from recurrent miscarriage (RM) further investigations should be considered. This is to minimise the physical and emotional burden and ensure there are no potentially treatable causes. Our comprehensive screening options will be individualised according to your clinical history:

Maternal tests (to be confirmed by your clinician):

  • Thrombophilia testing
  • Reproductive immunology
  • Hormone screening
  • Anatomical screening

Paternal tests

Sperm DNA - evidence has suggested that raised levels of sperm DNA damage may be associated with failed IVF and miscarriage.

Genetic tests

Karyotype - a simple blood test can exclude that either partner has a chromosomal variation that may explain either RIF or RM.

Embryo selection techniques

Preimplantation genetics testing (PGT) to screen embryos for aneuploidy.

Sperm culture is a test to determine if infection in the semen may be negatively impacting fertility.

A pelvic ultrasound scan detects problems in the uterus, ovaries and pelvic region. By performing a transvaginal ultrasound, we can assess the pelvis for signs of any underlying gynaecological conditions that may impact fertility and fertility treatment success rates, such as endometriosis or fibroids, as well as assessing the lining of the womb and ovarian reserve by measuring the antral follicle count.

Become An Egg Donor

Egg donors are special and remarkable women. By giving their eggs, they help couples fulfil their dream of starting a family.

Being an egg donor is rewarding in many ways. Apart from the satisfaction of assisting families who want a child, you will also receive compensation for your time and a thorough health assessment that includes regular blood tests, genetic screening, and testing for infectious diseases.

Find Out More

Jewish Egg Donation

Many intended parents who come to the ISIS Clinic for egg donation treatment are concerned that their ethnic background and heritage will be lost if they cannot find an egg donor who comes from the same background as them. For our Jewish clients, heritage and genetic lineage are even more important, especially as a child traditionally inherits their 'Jewish identity’ through the mother.

We are happy to confirm that our clinic offers Jewish egg donors who are certified to be of Jewish heritage by PUHA.

ISIS Clinic works with you to find a Jewish egg donor who is the right fit for your family, with a Hebrew-speaking associate coordinator on standby whenever needed. We specialise in connecting Jewish egg donors with Jewish intended parents and offer a variety of services to meet your specific needs.
