Christiana Antoniadou

Scientific Director & Head of Fertility Services

Christiana currently serves as the Scientific Director and Head of Fertility Services at the ISIS Clinic. With over 20 years of experience as an accredited senior clinical embryologist, she has been instrumental in establishing and managing large embryology units at leading fertility centres across Europe and the Middle East. She earned a Master of Science degree in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine from University College London in 2002, subsequently joining the Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine Department at Imperial College London, where she researched human embryonic stem cells before transitioning into clinical embryology. She still maintains a close collaboration with the Institute for Women’s Health at UCL by frequently supervising MSc projects. Christiana trained as an embryologist and worked at the acclaimed Bridge Centre in London under the supervision of Professor Alan Handyside. Christiana was responsible for introducing and fully implementing a highly efficient blastocyst culture and biopsy protocol for all patients undergoing preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) at the ISIS Clinic, establishing the clinic as the first IVF centre in the Eastern Mediterranean to fully implement blastocyst stage PGT. She is a co-founder of the Association of Clinical Embryologists Cyprus (ACEC) and an elected member of the Steering Committee for ESHRE’s International Reproductive Health Education Collaboration (IRHEC). She is also involved in the Scientific Examination Committee for the “Advanced Course in Clinical Embryology” at the Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Her scientific interests include preimplantation genetic testing, time-lapse embryo imaging, and morphokinetic profiling, and she is actively involved in ongoing research related to introducing artificial intelligence (AI) to routine lab processes and advancing reproductive health education. Christiana is a passionate advocate for fertility awareness, regularly contributing to reproductive health awareness initiatives such as Fertility Europe’s Facts Forward Program. Through these projects she strives to enhance access to a comprehensive reproductive health education for everyone, especially those within underserved communities where cultural, social and economic barriers may hinder access to such essential information.
